A Level 1 Sports Trainer—identifiable by their blue shirts—are those who have completed the Level 1 Sports Trainer Course. The course covers how to manage emergency situations and apply first aid in a Rugby League environment as well as injury management, crisis management, concussion management, sports taping and transporting an injured athlete. This accreditation is a minimum requirement to work with players aged 16 and over and ensures trainers can provide essential care during matches and training sessions, including managing a player's condition until more advanced medical help arrives. The course is a blended delivery with both eLearning and face to face training.

All participants who successfully complete the NRL Level 1 Sports Trainer course will receive the following qualifications:

• HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

• NRL Level 1 Sports Trainer certificate
